Dunedin has an extensive cycle network, with the most well-known and unique being the cycleways around the beautiful Otago Peninsula. The Harbour Loop is the most popular ride, taking you along a newly built dedicated cycle track with stunning harbour views. You can also head to St Clair beaches to enjoy its beaches and coastal cafes or ride North to explore the beautiful Botanic Gardens .

The Harbour Loop & Peninsula Cycleway (our most popular choice and an easy, flat ride!) is packed with great stops for food and coffee along the way. We recommend visiting Glenfalloch Garden and then enjoying a break at The Duck Cafe in Macandrew Bay and finally the Portobello PubFor those keen to ride further, you can continue all the way to the tip of the Otago Peninsula to see the world-famous birds at the Albatross Centre or take a detour to the historic Larnach CastlePlease note: these last two destinations are best suited for experienced riders, as the roads are narrow with traffic.

Common questions:

-?️ Parking: Find nearby parking options on the DCC website.

-? Public Transportpublic bus timetable from Port Chalmers to city.

-? Spare Bikes: Don’t worry—we keep spare bikes at the depot, so there’s never a shortage of sizes. Your code works on any of the bikes.

-? Included Gear: All hires include safety helmets and padlocks.

-? Rider Requirements: Riders should be at least 150 cm (4'11") tall, 16 years of age or older, and one person per bike only.

-?  Bike Brands: Our electric bikes are trusted brands such as Giant, Merida, and Moustache—all step-through for easy use. Our non-electric bikes are from Norco and Bobcat.

- ?Battery Life: The battery will last the full Harbour Loop if set to lower power modes. Maximum power mode drains the battery faster. Expected range is 60–70 km, though wind, rider weight, hills, and pedaling effort may affect it.

-?️Ride Duration: It takes about 1 hour to reach Portobello or the ferry crossing. Completing the full loop can take 2–4 hours at a relaxed pace, or a full day if visiting additional locations.
